OGA Conference Session

Come explore ways to incorporate grammar within an OG lesson—even in the earlier stages of instruction. This session offers engaging, multisensory strategies that make abstract concepts tangible while attending to both form and function to deepen comprehension, expressive writing, and vocabulary.

Understanding syntax—the way words and phrases work together to create meaning—is essential for reading comprehension and writing. However, many educators are unsure how to teach it effectively, and students often find it abstract.

This session demonstrates how to teach grammar and sentence structure using multisensory, structured approaches aligned with OG principles. Participants will explore practical tools—such as color coding, symbols, and tactile supports—that make parts of speech and sentence construction more concrete and accessible.

Emphasizing grammar as a functional, meaning-based system, this session highlights how sentence-level instruction supports comprehension and vocabulary development. Attendees will leave with ready-to-use strategies for integrating syntax and grammar into literacy instruction at all stages.

Sessions are available ON-DEMAND from April 8, 2026 – August 10, 2026
