This weekend at the 2025 IDA Ontario Literacy and Learning Conference, my wonderful colleague Sue Gray showcased the many ways to use our magnetic grapheme and morpheme tiles at the Fundamental Learning booth. Our resources — including the tiles and our card decks packed with clear, accurate information about English orthography — were a big hit and flew off the shelves!
A huge thank you to Sue for sharing her expertise, energy, and enthusiasm with everyone who stopped by.
It was fantastic reconnecting with colleagues and meeting so many educators eager to deepen their knowledge. Many shared that they had never been explicitly taught this content, a reminder that while great resources are important, teachers also need the knowledge and skills to teach effectively. This is why I’m so passionate about offering courses, workshops, and sessions that teach “the what, the how, and the why”, and support learners wherever they are on their journey.
We also had great conversations with administrators looking to better support their teams in implementing the new curriculum. It’s exciting to see such strong momentum for improving literacy instruction!
