We provide one-on-one Individualized Education Therapy for children and adults with learning difficulties/dyslexia using the Orton-Gillingham Approach and Structured Word Inquiry.
We use DIRECT INSTRUCTION and GUIDED INQUIRY with explanations of WHAT is to be learned, WHY it is to be learned, and HOW it is to be learned.
Instruction follows the LOGICAL ORDER of the English language – beginning with the most basic elements and moving to more complex material.
We employ ALL LEARNING PATHWAYS (seeing, hearing, feeling, and thinking) SIMULTANEOUSLY in order to enhance memory and learning.
Concepts are SYSTEMATICALLY REVIEWED and PRACTICED and new material is layered upon and CONNECTED to what has been previously learned.
Reading, writing, and spelling are INTEGRATED.
Teaching plans are INDIVIDUALIZED and based on careful continuous ASSESSMENT of each student’s needs.
All ages – all levels
When students are taught the FUNDAMENTALS of our language system they become EMPOWERED ADVOCATES for their own learning. They begin to look for patterns and meaning in the structure of our highly ordered morphophonemic language system and learn that English MAKES SENSE!

What is a Practicum Teacher
Teachers who have completed their Orton-Gillingham coursework are now ready to begin working on a supervised practicum with students. This is a wonderful opportunity to receive tutoring from a teacher who has completed an intensive training program and is putting theory into practice while continuing to work under the guidance of a Fellow of the Academy. You have the benefit of two committed and skilled teachers!
