High Frequency Words Workshop
This workshop focuses on high frequency words that are often referred to as “irregular” and taught using ‘rote memory’ strategies.
What if, instead, you could UNDERSTAND their spellings?! Come explore and uncover the history and sense behind those words whose spellings you think make no sense, and learn how to more effectively teach them.
Upcoming Classes:
Check back here for upcoming dates or if you have a group ready to learn we can organize a session for you!
High Frequency Words Workshop
Learn about the differences between ‘sight words’, ‘high frequency words’, ‘regular/irregular words’, ‘Dolch/Fry words’, and more importantly learn how to make sense of ALL types of words by understanding the connections between phonology, morphology, and etymology.
What People are Saying About our Workshops!
I so appreciate Liisa’s style of teaching and her warmth and enthusiasm. Her ability to communicate complex concepts and topics is amazing. And the resources are incredible. The hours just flew by and I was so sad when it was over. I will definitely be looking to sign up for anything you will be offering in the future. Thank you so much for sharing and for helping me become a more critical consumer and reflective practitioner!
I love learning from people like Liisa who lead with questions and always make the learner feel comfortable.

These courses have really underlined the importance/understanding that spelling, grammar, vocabulary, text structure and comprehension, etc. can’t be taught in isolation. It’s a bit overwhelming to think about how all can be addressed together in a comprehensive way but I will keep trying! Thanks again for your passion and dedication to the field. It makes learning with you such a pleasure as your enthusiasm is contagious! I really appreciate your commitment to what you do and am so thankful that I learned about your course and made the time to incorporate it into my schedule this summer 🙂
